Abstract

This study was conducted at Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) centers located in Adambakkam and Pallavakkam. The primary goal was to evaluate the prevalence of malnutrition in preschool children within these regions. To choose the study participants, a straightforward random sampling method was utilized to ensure an equitable and impartial representation of the population. To measure the degree of malnutrition, the Weight-for-Height scale was utilized. This tool is a recognized method for evaluating malnutrition in children and provides valuable data for assessing their nutritional status. Before collecting data, appropriate permissions were secured from the relevant authorities at the ICDS Center, ensuring adherence to ethical and procedural protocols. The data gathered through this study will be subjected to a comprehensive analysis. A combination of descriptive and inferential statistical techniques will be used to derive valuable insights from the data. The findings will be communicated in an easily comprehensible manner, employing tables, charts, and visual representations. This approach will aid in the effective communication of the findings, allowing for a better understanding of the malnutrition situation among preschool children in the Adambakkam and Pallavakkam areas. Ultimately, the study aims to contribute valuable information that can inform targeted interventions and policies to address malnutrition in this vulnerable population.
