Extraction of carotenoids from algal biomass
Abstract: Modern society is facing problems in producing reliable renewable energy source. A mixed process of carotenoid extraction and producing biofuels from algal biomass offers an attractive application to promote renewable energy due to its accessible mass production. Algae, a simple aquatic plant, with extraordinary biological features is capable to be used in different ways. Algae is studied as an important feedstock for carotenoids to be used in food industries, cosmetics …

Effect of Drought Stress on Morphological Characteristics in Plants- II
Abstract: Drought conditions significantly affect the growth and development of plants. Various metabolic functions in plants are also reduced due to such conditions, such as reduction in plant pigments- chlorophyll and carotenoids and alterations in the expression of certain proteins. This is a brief review on various effects of drought stress on different morphological characteristics in plants.

Experimental Based Analysis of Minor BioactiveCompound Composition of Avocado, Mango and NativePear Seed oil for Pharmaceutical Utilization
Abstract: Oil was extracted from avocado, mango and native pear seed through the mechanism of mechanothermal techniques. In this process no solvent was added for the purpose of the oil recovered rather themechanism of extraction was mainly mechanical and distillation process. The different oils recoveredfrom the process were subjected to pharmaceutical analysis to ascertain the properties of some minorbioactive compounds and their compositions in relation to the three samples of the …

Quantification of some Bioactive components and Antioxidant Activity of Various Uniflora Origin Bee Honey Collected During 2016 from East Libya
Abstract: In this study seven honey samples from three different cities of East Libya were collected in order to evaluate their biochemical properties and antioxidant activities. The results show that the proline content ranged from 77.32-222.43mg/kg. The total phenolic and total flavonoid contents ranged from 62.75-156.30mg/100g and from 13.94-78.31mg/100g, respectively. While the carotenoids content ranged from 1.0-7.38mg/kg. The antioxidant activities of Libyan honey samples were also investigated, based on free radical …

Red Yeast as a Sustainable Platform for Bio-Oil and Natural Pigment Production
Abstract: Oleaginous yeast represents a promising biotechnological platform for the sustainable production ofbio-oil, an alternative to fossil-derived fuels. These microorganisms can accumulate lipids up to 20–70% of their dry cell weight, primarily in the form of triacylglycerols that are structurally similar toplant and animal oils. Among them, certain species exhibit distinctive red or pink pigmentation andare collectively referred to as red yeasts. These yeasts not only synthesize significant amounts ofstorage lipids …

MICROGREENS: A NOBEL FUNCTIONAL FOOD AND ITS IMPORTANCE
Abstract: Abstract The rise in the living standards especially in urban dwellers rely heavily on lengthy food supply chains originated in rural areas, leading to limited access to perishable produce and logistical challenges in transportation. Consequently, numerous urban areas are categorised as ‘food desserts’, lacking adequate access to nutritious foods. Microgreens are young, miniature seedlings of vegetables and herbs, harvested when their cotyledons have fully expanded and their pair of true …

Physiochemical Mechanism Associated with Drought Tolerance in Tomato
Abstract: Abiotic stresses are one of the key limitations to global crop production and food security. Among the abiotic stresses, drought is one of the most vital factors that cause changes in morphological, biochemical, and physiological characteristics in plants, and consequently affects the growth and productivity of crops. The main purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of drought on physiological traits (ratio of root/shoot length, leaf area …

Alkaliphilic Microbes: Distribution, Diversity and Applications
Abstract: ABSTRACTAlkaliphiles are widely distributed in all domains of life viz. eubacteria, archaea and eukarya. Alkaliphilic microbes present in both near neutral and extreme habitats. These can grow vigorously and develop well at alkaline range of pH 8–10. About 63 alkaline lakes are present worldwide and there are only three mesmerizing crater lakes. Worldwide there are five alkaline soda lakes in Ethopia (Africa), six in Kenya and Tanzania (Africa), two in …
