Evaluations of Treatment Performance of Tangerine and Cashew Leaves in TPH Removal from Contaminated Swampy and Clay Soils
Abstract: This study evaluates the effectiveness of two plant-based treatments, Tangerine (Citrus reticulata) and Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) leaves, in the bioremediation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) from polluted swampy soil. The performance of these treatments was assessed over an 84-day period using 100g of each treatment. The results demonstrated significant degradation of TPH, with Tangerine leaf showing a slight edge over Cashew leaf in the remediation process of crude oil- contaminated …

Development of Pectin from the Peels of Orange, Guava, Apple, Aspergillus niger
Abstract: Pectin is a valuable product recovered primarily from citrus and apple waste. The average cost of high and low methoxyl pectin is around $10 and $12 kg1, respectively. Pectin is used in a variety of foods, including jams, jellies, marmalades, ketchups, sauces, juices, concentrates, syrups, and yoghurt. However, it is also used in pharmaceutical preparation, such as medical formulations, to stabilise suspensions. Aside from fresh consumption, the majority of the …

Synthesis and Characterization of Biodiesel from Animal Fat
Abstract: Biodiesel, an alternate and ecologically acceptable substitute for the conventional fuel, is usually produced from a wide range of edible vegetable oils, which are normally used for human consumption and whose prices are expected to increase in future. In this regard, reliable and low-cost raw materials have increasingly drawn interest for biodiesel production, such as by-products of the meat processing industries or waste animal fats. In present work biodiesel production …

Extraction,Characterization and Optimization of pectin from Banana peel by using Acid Extraction
Abstract: This paper basically focused on the production of pectin from banana peel, an agricultural waste. The production process used in this work was raw material collection from Hawassa City, and characterizing the raw material for its physic-chemical composition. The raw material was prepared and grinded to a averageparticle size of 0.25mm after drying at a constant temperature of 600C. The extraction of oil from the banana peel was conducted using …

Transforming Carbon: The Science and Potential of Gasification
Abstract: Methanol and chemicals like urea and ammonia, which are the building blocks of many fertilizers, can be produced via the gasification process. Additionally, gasification can assist in the production of transportation fuels from biomass, coal, oil, and sands. Drying, pyrolysis, combustion, cracking, and reduction are the five distinct thermal processes that make up gasification. Drying removes moisture from the feedstock, while pyrolysis breaks down complex hydrocarbons into simpler molecules. Combustion …

Advancing Clean Energy: The Role of Biohydrogen Technology
Abstract: The process of gasification turns carbonaceous materials derived from biomass or fossil fuels into gases, with nitrogen (N2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), and carbon dioxide (CO2) being the main fractions. By reacting carbonaceous materials (coal, petroleum, and biomass) with a regulated amount of oxygen and/or steam at high temperatures, a thermochemical process known as gasification produces carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Methanol and chemicals like urea and ammonia, which are …
