Treatment of Synthetic Dairy Waste in an Aerobic Bioreactor
Abstract: Bioreactors are used to treat industrial wastewater including petrochemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, oil, dairy wastes, etc. Disposal of dairy wastes is of importance through the manufacture of milk products including cheese, butter, ice cream and processed milk. Most of the dairy industries use typical activated sludge method for their effluent treatment leading to a relatively high operation costs and problem with the disposal of large amounts of sludge. Aerobic processes are …

Bioremediation of Oil-Spilled Sites through Seeding Naturally Adapted Pseudomonas putida
Abstract: In the present study, crude oil degradation was analyzed using isolated bacterial strains. These bacterial strains were isolated from the crude-oil-contaminated soil sample. All the isolates were identified as species of Pseudomonas, in which the Pseudomonas putida P11 and LP1 demonstrated a strong ability to degrade kerosene, gasoline, diesel, engine oil and crude oil. Bioremediation for oil spill cleanup was analyzed by the inoculation of P. putida with the addition …

Study on the Significance of Water Treatment Using Activated Carbon from Palm Bunch Fiber
Abstract: Activated carbon produced from palm bunch fibers was investigated for water treatment with the aim to improve water quality for industrial consumption and not for humans and animal consumption. Dominantly the activated carbon produced from palm bunch fiber was used for treatment of industrial effluent water and the application is environmental friendly. The high alkali concentration in the activated carbon improved the pH level of the treated water from 4.03 …

The Use of Factor and Cluster Analysis to Interpret Groundwater Chemistry in Ga East Municipality, Ghana, West Africa.
Abstract: Groundwater chemistry was interpreted in this studies to ascertain the groundwater controlling parameters within the vicinity of Ga East Municipality, Ghana. 37 data points from various Boreholes were analyzed using factor and cluster analysis. The studies have revealed that groundwater in areas of Ga East is controlled by seawater intrusions, anthropogenic activities and carbonate mineral dissociation according to the results obtained from factor analysis. Three cluster groups were developed which …

Case Studies On Synthesis Of PLLA Bioplastic Starting From Food And Agricultural Wastes
Abstract: Polylaevo Lactic Acid (PLLA) is an excellent biopolymer that is biodegradable and has characteristics exactly similar to polystyrene. However, at present, the market price of this biopolymer is significantly higher than polystyrene and other synthetic plastics. The major hindrances to the large scale manufacture of this polymer are the lack of availability of a cheap raw material and the overall economy of synthesis of lactic acid from the same. In …

Essence of Physicochemical Model of the Formation of Negatively Charged Microdispersed Hydrogen Bubbles in the Process of Electrolysis of Water Solutions
Abstract: Electrolytic hydrogen bubbles, formed during the electrolysis of water solutions, have two unique properties: microdispersion and negative charge of their surface, which allow them as a result of an elementary act of flotation to form strong complexes: negatively charged micro dispersed hydrogen bubbles-microscopic solid particle, biological cell, whose floatation to the free surface of water solution due to their increased volume compared to individual components ensures the successful completion of …

Kinetic Modeling and Thermodynamic Study of the Simultaneous Adsorption of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) Onto Organomontmorillonite in Aqueous Medium
Abstract: Water is a vital source of human life, but it has frequently been polluted by mono and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, usually from petrochemicals in petroleum industrial effluents as well as other anthropogenic activities. This study investigate the potential of montmorillonite intercalated HDTMAand TMPA cations for effective removal of five (5) different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) namely: naphthalene, anthracene, chrysene, benzo(a)pyrene and benzo(g,h,i) perylene in aqueous medium. To research PAH adsorption behaviour …
