Operational Energy in Buildings
Abstract: Assessment of operational energy was made in this paper of houses in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Udupi to study energy of urban and rural residential buildings. The study shows that for a building with embodied energy at3.0 GJ, life cycle energy varies from 9.01GJ to 24.8 GJ. The embodied energy then varies from 12% to 33.3% of the 50 years life cycle energy. The influence of climate conditions on operational energy …

Identifying and Assessing the Usefulness and Validity of 6D and 7D BIM in Construction Practices
Abstract: Building information modeling (BIM) is a unified practice using coordinated and coherent representation software proficiently running in various formats (from 3D to 7D) to perk up overall project management. BIM can be executed ahead of the planning and designing stage of project, covering the complete building life cycle, along with the procedures involved in facility management and sustainability. This paper critically reviews the application of 6D and 7D BIM in …

An assessment of Behavioural Pattern for a Housing Society keeping view of the Public Perception and Psychology of Urban Open Space
Abstract: In our ancient architectural texts, the dwelling for the public is perceived as a solution to the issues arising from culture. Social structures are integrated into the system by specifying prototypes for different sections of society. The connection between housing and social structure has been borrowed from Durkheim’s who discusses social space, social life and social groups to address inclusiveness and the well-being housing ecosystem. Space is created for human …

Graph Theory and Matrix Method for Development and Design of Combustion Engine
Abstract: The idea upon which any methodology development is pillared leads to real time decisions if simulation and assessment is as per the standard codes set by standard organizations. More near is the system with standard system more it is appropriate for operation. In the present work system under consideration is internal combustion engine. Fuel cost is one of the most important parameter in life cycle analysis of the internal combustion …

Entropy and Efficiency: Thermodynamic Insights into Sustainable Energy Technologies
Abstract: The transition toward sustainable energy systems requires a deeper understanding of the thermodynamic principles that govern energy conversion and utilization. Entropy and efficiency are central to this discussion, as they define the limits of performance and highlight the irreversibility inherent in real processes. This paper examines the role of entropy generation in renewable energy technologies, including solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, bioenergy, and advanced energy storage systems. By applying exergy analysis, …

RUTTING EVALUATION OF BITUMINOUS MIXES USING WHEEL LOAD TESTERS
Abstract: Abstract: Permanent deformation also known as rutting, is the major mode of distress affecting the service life and performance of bituminous pavements. Rutting occurs due to excessive stresses on subgrade, inadequate strength of bituminous mix, inadequate thickness of pavement layers or poor construction methods. Among these causes, quality of bituminous mix is one of the main factors that contribute towards rutting failure. There are several test methods like Uniaxial tests, Triaxial …

Fatigue Performance of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Hybrid Nanocomposites Modified Using Core-Shell Rubber Particles and Nanosilica
Abstract: This study investigates the fatigue behavior of carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy composites modified with nanosilica, core-shell rubber particles, and a hybrid of both additives. Specifically, the composites were formulated with 10 wt% nanosilica, 10 wt% core-shell rubber particles, and a hybrid containing 10 wt% of each additive. The research aimed to assess how these modifications influence the mechanical performance and fatigue resistance of the composites under cyclic loading conditions. The addition …

Getting Rid of Carbon: A New Direction for the Chemical Industry
Abstract: The chemical industry is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions due to its reliance on fossil-based feedstocks, energy-intensive processing routes, and long-lived capital infrastructure. Achieving international climate targets therefore requires deep decarbonisation across the entire chemical value chain, a transition complicated by technological limitations, economic risks, and systemic operational barriers. This article critically evaluates key emission-reduction pathways, including electrification of process heat, substitution of fossil resources with bio-based …
