Analysis and optimization of exergy losses in a heavy water distillation column
Abstract: Heavy water (D2O) of isotopic purity 99.9% and more is used as the moderator and the coolant in pressurized heavy water nuclear reactors (PHWRs). This purity is maintained by vacuum distillation. In the column there are various sources of irreversibility and thermodynamic inefficiency. This work presents an analysis of these losses in a typical heavy water distillation column and their dependence on various design and operating parameters of the column. …

An Eco-friendly approach for the utilization of waste water for the generation of Bioelectricity
Abstract: Abstract: Microbial fuel cell (MFC) is pollution free, electricity generation device; it represents a new method for eco-friendly source of electricity generation. When we produce electricity by Microbial fuel cell from food factory waste water we obtained pure water as a byproduct. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a special type of cell by which we can produce eco-friendly energy in the form of electricity. This paper explores the application of …

Comparison of Theoretical and Experimental Approach to Predict Crude Oil Spreading Rate in Niger Delta Area, Nigeria
Abstract: Theoretical and Experimental approach was employed to examine the rate of crude oil characteristics upon the influence of transport and spreading, using Niger Delta raw crude oil. The major raw crude oil used for this investigation are Escravos crude oil, Brass blend and Bonny light and the rate of transport and spreading was monitored based on the laboratory set – up experiment. Mathematical model was developed to monitor, predict and …

Preparation of Aluminium Foam using Recycled Beverage Cans, Na-CL salt and Discarded Dry Battery powder
Abstract: In this work, an attempt has been made to prepare Aluminium Foam by using recycled beverage cans, dry battery powder and Sodium Chloride (Nacl) powder particles. Three samples were prepared with the following combinations: Sample I = 2 kg of recycled Aluminium cans + 10 wt. % of Nacl salt and 10 wt. % of dry battery powder particles; Sample II = 2 kg of recycled Aluminium cans + 15 …

Variations in GCRs with Solar Variability between 1996-2018
Abstract: Abstract The solar outputs and their variability controls by heliospheric structure, produce changes in cosmic ray intensity (high energy charged particles) entre into inner heliosphere. Observation based on the data taken from Omniweb data centre for solar- interplanetary data and monthly mean count rate of cosmic ray intensity (CRI) variation data from Oulu and Moscow neutron monitors during 1996-2018. It is observed that slow decline of solar cycle 23 and …
