Application of Nanotechnology in Food Industry

Abstract

Nanotechnology has the potential of application in the food industry and processing as new tools for pathogen detection, disease treatment delivery systems, food packaging, and delivery of bioactive compounds to target sites.This review is based on the applications of food industry using nanotechnology. The basic categories of nanotechnology applications in the evolution of food Industry includes:Integration of active componentsand improvement of plastic material for packaging of food that conveys useful characteristics apart from those of customary active packaging and the detecting and motioning of compatible information. Nanotechnology applications in the food industry can be utilized to trace microscopic organisms in packaging or produce real and better flavors and color quality and safety by upgrading the antimicrobial properties. Ever heard about Nanofood? Well, nanofoods are foods that are cultivated using nanotechnology tools and techniques in order to increase its shelf life. Nanotechnology ensures to provide benefits with respect to food packaging.
