Evaluation of Treatment Performance in TPH Removal from Soil: A Comparative Study of Baobab and Neem Treatments
Abstract: This study evaluates the effectiveness of Baobab (Adansonia) and Neem (Azadirachta indica) in powdered form, combined with yeast and NPK fertilizer, for the bioremediation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) in polluted swampy and clay soils. Over an 84-day period, both treatments significantly enhanced TPH degradation, with Neem showing slightly better performance overall. In swampy soil, TPH removal ranged from 97.78% (Baobab) to 98.50% (Neem), while in clay soil, it ranged …

TPH Degradation through Bioremediation Using Organic Amendments
Abstract: This study investigates the effectiveness of bioremediation in crude oil-contaminated soils from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, an area that has long suffered environmental degradation due to recurrent petroleum exploration and oil spills. The research emphasizes the degradation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) in two distinct soil types – swampy and clay soils – while assessing the influence of various organic and inorganic amendments. Organic amendments, specifically Moringa seed …

We Are Breaking Environment But Still Don’t Know How To Fix It?
Abstract: We people are breaking our environment by doing pollution, deforestation, bio-war, water crises, land crises and many others. Don’t know how long we people are going to survive on the earth as a parasite. As far as pollution of water and soil is concerned the most important concept will arise that is bioremediation which is unique, sportive, and full of challenges. Laccases are efficient enzymes in applied biology especially in …

Solution to the Arsenic Problem in West Bengal: Exploring Some Non-Conventional Ways
Abstract: Some districts of West Bengal have severe arsenic contamination of soil and groundwater. The clinical manifestations of arsenic toxicity include severe skin lesions; diseases of respiratory, cardiovascular, excretory system, hepatological, haematological and neurological disorders; and even death. We have isolated arsenic-resistant bacteria which have the adaptability to survive in high arsenic concentration, accumulate arsenic and convert it to its less toxic form. Therefore, we propose bioremediation as a cost-effective and …
