  Zn2+ Biosorption Efficiency of a Nostoc sp. Isolated From a Coal Mine in Sohra, Meghalaya

  Abstract: A Nostoc isolate obtained from a coal mine at Sohra in Meghalaya was evaluated for biosorption potential for Zn2+ which was one of the metal ions besides Cu2+, Cd2+, Fe3+, Mn2+ and Pb2+ found in water samples collected from the site. Zn2+ uptake potential of the cyanobacterium was analyzed calculating amount of ions removed by the isolate from Zn2+ supplemented media using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).
