Synthesis of Silica Nanoparticles using Sodium Silicate Solution by Sol Gel Method
Abstract: The most commonly used route for synthesizing silica nanoparticles is sol-gel method due to its ability to produce monodispersed with narrow-size distribution nanoparticles at mild conditions. Recent advances in the sol-gel process for synthesis of monodispersed, narrow-size distribution nanoparticles have boosted the development of silica-polymer nanocomposites significantly. The focus of this research is on the synthesis of silica nanoparticles, size-dependent property characterization, and surface modification for the creation of homogenous …

Transparent Sodium Silicate Encapsulated Cellulose Nanospheres
Abstract: Transparent cellulose is a research hotspot in current science. Transparent nanocellulose finds applications in energy, environment, defense, catalysis, and medicine. Sodium silicate-modified cellulose fibers were reported to be transparent. There have been various other strategies, like generating sulfate groups on nanocellulose surfaces for inducing transparency in cellulose-based materials. However, the synthesis of transparent nanospheres of cellulose with encapsu-lated sodium silicate has never been reported in the literature. Here in, for …

Enhancing Compressive Strength of Geopolymer Concrete with Micro and Macro Steel Fibers: A Study on Fiber-Reinforced Geopolymers
Abstract: AbstractThis research investigates the impact of micro and macro steel fibers on the compressive strength ofgeopolymer concrete (GPC). The study utilizes locally sourced materials, including river sand, granite aggregates, fly ash, and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) in a 50:50 ratio asalumino-silicate materials. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (Na₂SiO₃) were employedas activators, with the addition of a superplasticizer (Conplast SP430) to enhance workability. FourGPC mixes were analyzed: GPC without …

Development of Geo-Polymer based Light Weight Bricks
Abstract: Light weight geopolymer bricks were developed during this study. The mix was made with lime sodium silicate and fly ash as ingredients. A maximum shrinkage was observed at CaO lime ratio of 1.0. Bulk densities were also lower at the ratio of 1.0. The maximum cold crushing strength (CCS) value was found at the ratio of 0.745. Increase in mix water decreased the strength. Water content of 24% is recommended …
