Microbial Architects of Soil Health: A Multifaceted Approach to Improving Plant Nutrition, Biocontrol, and Phytohormone Production
Abstract: The intricate relationship between plants and soil harbours a thriving community of microorganisms, unseen yet essential. Through numerous mechanisms, these microscopic marvels are essential to sustaining the health of the soil and encouraging robust plant growth. Microbes in the soil are essential for enhancing plant nutrition. Bacteria and fungi act as silent collaborators, facilitating the process of solubilizing and mobilising essential nutrients like phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen within the soil. …

Antagonistic Activity of Fungi and Bacterium against Red Rot Disease of Saccharum officinarum: An Approach for Biocontrol
Abstract: The Two species of fungus Trichoderma harzianum and Aspergillus flavus and one species of bacterium viz. Bacillus subtilis were tested for antagonistic activity in vitro against Colletotrichum falcatum, pathogen of red rot disease of sugarcane. Two Saccharum officinarum cultivars viz. CoS 98231 and CoLK 8102 in pot and field experiments, by a dual culture technique. It was found that isolates of fungal and bacterial inhibited the mycelial growth of C. …

Recent Trend of Bio-Fungicide and Pesticide in Agriculture
Abstract: Biopesticides, which are commonly employed to combat harmful phytopathogens, are derived products made from living microbes, including plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, viruses, and minerals, as well as their bioproducts. In contrast to synthetic fungicides, the use of biopesticides in agricultural fields is a more cost-effective, environmentally safe, and target-specific method due to their biodegradability and environmental safety. Trichoderma spp.-based biofungicides are currently regarded as the most promising and dominant commercial …

Rhizobacteria for Sustainable Agriculture: An Overview
Abstract: Several soil bacteria participate in the growth and development of plants, and are usually termed as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria. These bacteria colonize on or near plant roots and play vital role either directly or indirectly in health and productivity of different plant species. The plant growth promoting rhizobacteria facilitate plant growth by assisting in acquisition of essential nutrients and minerals, modulating plant hormone levels and by acting as biocontrol …
