Passive Capillary Flow of Dyed Aqueous Ethanol in the Leakage-Free PMMA Microchannel
Abstract: A single polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microfluidic device is fabricated by the maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding technique. This device is tested by dyed aqueous ethanol (10% ethanol, 90% dyed water) in leakage-free condition. The passive capillary flow of dyed aqueous ethanol is recorded by a CMOS camera catching 25 frames per second. This work will be useful in commercial bioengineering applications. Keywords: Passive capillary flow, PMMA, Aqueous ethanol, …

Experiments on the Passive Capillary Flow of Aqueous Ethanol in Sudden Expansion Microchannels towards the Applications in Nanofluidics and Nanoelectromechanical Systems
Abstract: In this work, total three individual sudden expansion microchannels are designed and fabricated by maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding technique inside the cleanroom laboratory. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is used as the selected polymer to fabricate these microchannels. Aqueous ethanol (15% ethanol, 85% dyed water) is prepared and used as dyed working liquid. Surface-driven (passive) capillary flow of prepared working liquid is recorded by a CMOS camera corresponding to …

Modelling and Simulation of a Bio-Fermenter for Ethanol Production
Abstract: Industrialization and world population are continuously increasing and this demands high energy. Ethanol is one of the leading bio-fuel in recent years. In this research, mathematical models were developed to monitor, predict and simulate the rate of production of ethanol from the fermentation process of corn. Increase in the ethanol production was observed within the range of 0 >D_S≤0.25 of solvent dilution rate with the optimum value of ethanol concentration …

Antioxidant Activities and Whitening Effects of Bougainvillea and Marigold Flower Extracts
Abstract: The objective of this study is to evaluate the potential of ethanol and aqueous extracts of bougainvillea (Bougainvillea hybrid) and marigold (Tageteserecta L.) flowers as source of cosmetic ingredients with antioxidant and anti-melanogenesis properties. Ethanolic extracts of the marigold flower showed high antioxidant activities according to our DPPH and ferrous metal chelating activities. Ethanolic extracts of the bougainvillea flower demonstrated high tyrosinase inhibitory effects and anti-melanogenesis activities equivalent to that …
