Effect of Soil pH on the Germination and Growth of Triticum aestivum (Wheat) and Zea mays (Maize)
Abstract: Because of its effects on nutrient availability, microbial activity, and the solubility of hazardous elements, all of which can have a substantial impact on crop productivity, soil pH is a crucial factor determining plant growth and development. Understanding how different pH levels affect the vegetative growth of crops is crucial for optimizing agricultural practices. This study examines the impact of soil pH – acidic, neutral, and alkaline – on the …

Impact of Solid Waste Disposal on Soil Physicochemical Parameters and Selected Enzyme Activities: A Case Study from Nekede Dumpsite, Nigeria
Abstract: This study assessed the influence of solid waste disposal on soil physicochemical parameters in Nekede dumpsite Owerri, Imo state Nigeria. The study area is a solid waste dumpsite located between latitude 5° 25' 59.99"N and longitude 7°01'60.00"E DMS coordinates along No. 1 old Nekede road and beside the Otamiri river. The study area was partitioned into four (4) quadrants while facing the river with samples collected at three (3) different …

Response of Zea mays to Rhizophagus Intraradices with 50% Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilizer Prevents the Release of N2O From the Soil
Abstract: The healthy growth of Zea mays (maize) requires NH4NO3/PO4--3 fertilizers (ammonium nitrate and phosphates), are applied in unregulated doses, are associated to denitrification, generating greenhouse gases, causing global warming, loss of soil productivity, and pollution of surface water in case of phosphates. An alternative is to decrease and optimize the dose of NH4NO3/PO4--3 by applying arbuscular vesicle fungi (AVF), to optimize, the dose of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers, AVF endosymbionts …

Evaluation of Groundwater Quality Parameters Through Physico-Chemical Analysis in the Puducherry Region
Abstract: Abstract The evaluation of the quality of drinking water in Puducherry state and its surrounding regions primarily concentrated on groundwater sources. Nine specimens were examined using standardized techniques, and their outcomes were contrasted with national standards. Nevertheless, on a worldwide scale, the quality of water is facing a growing danger from unwelcome alterations in its physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. Population growth, industrialization, fertilizer usage, and mining activities are major …

In Vitro Evaluation of Bioremediation Capacity of a Commercial Probiotic, Bacillus clausii, for Chromium (VI) and Lead (II) Toxicity
Abstract: Heavy metals cause disastrous effects on any living organisms. Probiotics have the ability to reduce metal toxicity. Commercial probiotics having bioremediation capacity can use these bacteria as an alternative to conventional remediation methods. The bioaccumulation of heavy metals including chromium (VI) (Cr [VI]) and lead (II) (Pb [II]) causes fatal toxicity in humans. Some naturally occurring bacterial species, such as Bacillus and Pseudomonas, contribute their role in bioremediation of these …
