Comparative Analysis of Essential Oil Composition and Antioxidant Activity in Carissa carandas L. Fruits from Diverse Indian Regions Using GC-MS Metabolomics
Abstract: Essential oils of Carissa carandas fruits collected from six different regions in India characterized by diverse climatic conditions were investigated for their chemical composition, oil yield diversity and antioxidant activity. The lowest (0.08%) and the highest (19.32%) of each compound in essential oils were demonstrated in fruit samples from Dehradun and Rajasthan, respectively. GC-MS based analysis identified 33 compounds. The main components were limonene, β-myrcene, γ-terpinene, β-linalool, terpinen-4-ol, eugenol, β-element, …

Determination of Poly Chlorinated biphenyls in sediment of Trondheim fjord (Norway) and Lake Tana (Ethiopia) using pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS).
Abstract: The presence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the environment is of great concern, as they are compounds that are hazardous to the environment and human health. Environmental investigations of PCBs can be challenging as they are found in trace amount, thus, it is important to have a reliable method for the determination of PCBs in environmental samples. In this work, an analytical method for the determination of PCBs in marine …

Effect of Al2O3 and CeO2 Nanocatalysts on Biodiesel Yield from Pine and Soapnut Oils
Abstract: Abstract This study examines the influence of aluminium oxide (Al2O3) and cerium oxide (CeO2) nanocatalysts on the biodiesel yield obtained from two non-edible oils: pine oil and soapnut oil. Both oils were extracted through mechanical pressing and converted into biodiesel using the transesterification process. To understand how different process conditions, affect biodiesel production, a Box–Behnken Design (BBD) was used. Three key variables—methanol-to-oil ratio, catalyst concentration, and reaction temperature—were analyzed to …

Commercial Scale Quantification of Lignin
Abstract: Lignin, an aromatic biopolymer, in the terrestrial lignocellulosic biomass constitutes the single largest and sustainable source of biofuels and biochemicals. The recalcitrant nature of lignin is a hindrance to its chemical or biochemical conversion. Moreover, its insolubility in water too is a major challenge in its quantification which is a necessary step prior to and after its conversion. Though there are celebrated quantification methods like the classical Klason lignin method …

A Study on the Properties of Methyl Esters of Camelina Sativa Oil
Abstract: The depletion of fossil fuel and the pollution created due to the combustion of fossil fuels created an awareness to find an alternative to fossil fuels. In this present work, the focus is on to utilize the camelina sativa seed to produce oil and the same is trans-esterified to biodiesel and in this connection a detailed analysis has been done. Biodiesel is produced by transesterification of neat Camelina Sativa oil. …

Mechanistic and Catalytic Behavior of Os for the Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Bromamine-B Redox System
Abstract: Chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) is an important antihistamine agent. To the best of our knowledge there is no report in the literature about the oxidation of CPM with halogen + 1 oxidant from the stand point of its kinetics and mechanistic chemistry. Hence, a systematic kinetics and mechanistic study on the oxidation of CPM with bromamine-B (BAB) in the presence of NaOH and Os(VIII) catalyst has been carried out at 303 …
