Synthesis of Bromobutyl Rubber: Effect of Reaction Temperature and Time on Bromobutyl Rubber Microstructure
Abstract: Butyl rubber is prepared by cationic polymerization process either by solution or slurry phase by randomly copolymerizing isobutylene with small amount of isoprene (1-3 mol %). It has good air impermeability and oxidative stability and thus finds extensive use in inner tube applications. The presence of unsaturation in the form of isoprene units in butyl rubber provides a means of enhancing useful properties of this important commodity elastomer by incorporation …

Review Article: Butyl and Halo-Butyl Rubbers
Abstract: Butyl and halo butyl rubbers are key raw materials for various industries due to their exceptional properties, like permeability to gases, high chemical resistance, and durability. Butyl rubber (IIR) is composed of isobutylene with small amounts of isoprene, offering a low permeability to gases, making it ideal for applications in the automotive, medical, and consumer goods. Butyl Rubber is non-polar nature and possess excellent insulation properties which further enhance its …

Synthesis of Brominated Poly (Isobutylene-co-Isoprene) Based Ionomers and Its Applications
Abstract: Reactive bromobutyl rubber and its modification have been studied in detail. These reactive bromobutyl rubber was converted to ammonium and phosphonium functionalized bromobutyl rubber using triphenyl phosphine (PPh3) and 4-Dimethylaminopyridine (4-DMAP). Mechanical properties of synthesized ionomers are found comparative with butyl rubber. Pharma stopper was made from synthesized phosphonium ionomer that may be useful for pharma industries due to its self-healing characteristics which can help to preserve the properties of …
