Design and Pinch Analysis of Methyl Acetate Production Process using Aspen Plus and Aspen Energy Analyzer
Abstract: Abstract This study deals with the design and heat integration of Methyl Acetate production process. Initially, Methyl Acetate production process plant is designed using Aspen Plus. Methyl acetate obtained is 99.99% pure and the designed plant is safe to environment with less emissions. For the developed process plant, pinch analysis is applied using Aspen Energy Analyzer. Improved Heat exchanger networks (HEN) is obtained with retrofit analysis of the process plant. …

Pyrolysis of Agro Wastes for Renewable Energy Production in Shendam Local Government Using Aspen-Plus and Monte-Carlo
Abstract: The global decline in fossil fuel availability, coupled with increasing concerns over climate change, has accelerated the search for sustainable and decentralized energy solutions. Agro-waste, particularly lignocellulosic food waste, has shown great promise as an alternative energy feedstock. This study explores the potential of pyrolysis technology for onsite energy production using fruit-based food waste collected from markets and food enterprises in Shendam Local Government Area, Plateau State, Nigeria. The selected …

Simulation of Syngas Production from Rice Straw Gasification over Zeolite Catalyst using Aspen Plus
Abstract: A comprehensive process model is developed to simulate syngas production from Rice strawGasification over zeolite catalyst using an Aspen Plus simulator. The model is based on Niko andMahinpey model and some modifications were made in the gasification reaction model. Two caseswere stimulated which are catalytic gasification and non-catalytic gasification to test the impact ofzeolite catalyst on the reaction. Comparisons were based on the basis of flowrate, energyconsumption and effect of …

Continuous Counter-current Liquid–Liquid Extraction in a Packed Column: Experiments and Simulations using Aspen Plus
Abstract: The liquid–liquid two-phase mass transfer in a packed column was examined by varying acetic acid concentrations in the feed, solvent to feed flow rate S/F ratio using random packing. The overall volumetric mass transfer coefficient, percentage extraction, Number of Transfer Units were determined quantitatively. Simulation results were validated with experimental data and optimization of number of stages was done by using Aspen Plus. From the results obtained in the packed …

Hydrothermal Gasification of Selected Foods for Sustainable Energy Generation using aspen plus
Abstract: Fossil fuels are becoming scarce and depleting at an alarming rate. To address the ever- increasing energy demand and the worrying deterioration of the climatic condition, researchers are obligated to pursue alternate feedstock for sustainable energy generation that promotes carbon neutrality. The search leads to lignocellulosic materials like unprocessed food wastes. These are sizing quantities of agro-waste that seem promising for the production of bioenergy, especially in tropical and subtropical …

Suitability of Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) and Piperazine (PZ) for Improving CO2 Absorption Efficiency Using Rotating Packed Bed (RPB) Technology: A Modeling and Simulation Study
Abstract: Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) is an essential technology for reducing atmospheric CO2 emissions and mitigating climate change, especially in fossil-fuel power generation. However, the high cost of CCS technologies has hindered their widespread adoption. In this study, we modeled CO2 removal using a rotating packed bed (RPB) technology using Visual Fortran and Aspen Plus software. We made use of a blended amine solution including different molar concentration …

Thermodynamic Equilibrium Modeling of Sunflower Husk Gasifier to Produce Synthesis Gas
Abstract: Energy from biomass offers the great attraction in producing useful gaseous component resulting in low emissions and providing energy security. In the present study a gasifier model was developed using commercial Aspen Plus simulator. The model developed was based on the minimization of Gibb’s free energy and is validated with the experimental data of sunflower husk gasification using air as a gasifying agent. The results predicted are in good agreement …
