Assessment of THMs Formation Potential in Treated Water
Abstract: Raw water in the Saidabad water treatment plant is treated by chlorination. Water samples were collected in February, March, July and September from the six locations of DND canal and treated by chlorine dose. Higher chlorine dose is required in dry season. The treated samples are tested for dissolved organic carbon (DOC), chloride and bromide ions. Using the test results, Trihalomethane (THM) predictive models are developed. Total THM formation is …

Review on Effect of Chemical Waste on Environment
Abstract: The depression describes how to deal with chemical waste. Chemical Toxic waste is waste material that can cause death or injury to living creatures. It spreads easily and has the potential to pollute lakes and rivers. This term is often used interchangeably with "dangerous waste", or discarded material that may present long-term risks to both health and the environment. The contemporary dependence on chemicals in almost all manufacturing processes makes …

Cotton Seed for Biodiesel: A Review
Abstract: The planet's ecology is being harmed by our dependency on fossil fuels to supply its rising need for energy. Finding green technologies that produce fewer greenhouse gases is urgently needed. Even though there are different types of fuel such as liquified petroleum gas, compressed natural gas, ethanol, methanol, etc. still there is a need for eco-friendly fuel. With fewer adverse environmentalconsequences, biofuels have many benefits. Biodiesel derived from the transesterification …

Mathematical models in Predictive microbiology for food safety
Abstract: The study of predictive microbiology is predicated on the notion that populations of microorganisms react in a predictable manner to the conditions of their environment and that historical observations can be used to predict how populations will react in the future by looking at environments in terms of the dominant limitations they present. Predictive microbiology is a relatively new branch of the field of microbiology that has recently gained significant …

Fast pyrolysis of Kaner (Thevetia peruviana) Seed to Fuel and Chemicals
Abstract: Bio-energy is now considered as having the potential to provide the major part of the projected renewable energy provisions of the future. Currently non-edible seed biomass has been considered as one of the major bio energy resource. Among the different non-edible seeds such as Jatropha, Neem, Karanja, Safflower, Pomegranate, Cherry, Mahua, Cotton etc., Kaner (Thevetia Peruviana) seed plant is a very widely available even in the tropical climate. In this …

A Novel Approach to Pulse Anodizing for Decreasing Energy Consumption and Increasing Productivity
Abstract: Anodizing is a resourceful method used to give aesthetic appearance and to prevent a metal from corrosion by forming an oxide layer over its surface. Depending upon the different fields of application various power supply such as direct current (DC) and pulsed current (PC) are used. This paper reviews an existing anodizing method which can be optimized with a few simple guidelines. Several current densities and pulse periods were tested …

Chitosan: Chemistry, Applications & Economics of Production - A Review
Abstract: Chitosan is a natural poly-cationic linear polysaccharide derived from chitin and also known as de-acetylated chitin. It is derived from partial de-acetylation of chitin. Its low solubility in neutral and alkaline solution limits its application. Chitosan’s chemical modification brings to it new reactive functional properties for different applications. Because of biocompatibility, non-toxicity, low allergenicity and biodegradability, it is used in various applications .This review paper presents the chemistry, literature review …

Mechanical properties of Poly vinyl alcohol and Nitrocellulose blends.
Abstract: Mechanical properties of polyvinyl alcohol and nitrocellulose blends has been determined successfully via tensile strength, Young’s modulus, percentage elongation and impact strength. The blends of the respective polymers are in the ratio PVA:NC (90:10,80:20,60:40,50:0,40:60,10:90). There are good results from different blend ratios which include tensile strength PVA: NC 90:10 (16.98MPa) Young’s modulus 60:40 (0.71MPa). The highest percentage elongation was observed for 80:20 at 160.09%. The most elastic blend ration was …
