Numerical investigation of hydrodynamics of batch crystallizer
Abstract: In this work, hydrodynamics in a draft tubebatch crystallizer is analysed computationally using Computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The CFD simulations are performed using multiple reference frame (MRF) with sliding mesh approach in transient condition for flow time of 5s using the standard k-ε turbulence model. The flow-field in batch crystallizer is quantified by calculating time averaged velocity profiles along the horizontal line and by analysing the temporal variation of liquid …

Influences of Layered Silicate Modification and Compatibilizers on the Properties of Polypropylene Nanocomposites
Abstract: In this study, polypropylene (PP) organo-layered silicate nanocomposites based on organo-muscovite (OM) were fabricated using co-rotating twin-screw extruder. Polypropylene grafted maleic anhydride (PPMA) and potassium succinate modified polypropylene grafted maleic anhydride (PPKS) were used as a compatibilizer in the nanocomposite system. The influences of layered silicate modification and compatibilizers on the morphological, mechanical, thermal and rheological features of PP/PPMA/OM and PP/PPKS/OM nanocomposites were examined. TEM micrographs were made which showed …

Studies on Zirconium(IV) Telluroiodate: A New Heteropolyacid Based Inorganic Ion Exchange Material
Abstract: Zirconium (IV) telluroiodate has been synthesized as a new inorganic cation exchanger by adding a mixture of aqueous solution of 0.1 M potassium iodate and 0.1 M sodium tellurite to aqueous solution of 0.1 M zirconium (IV) oxychloride under varying mixing ratios at pH 1. Its ion exchange capacity for Na+ was found to be 1.85 meqg1 of dry exchanger. The material has been characterized on the basis of chemical …

Synthesis of Nano-ZnO by Chemical Method and its Characterization
Abstract: Nanocrystals of ZnO were prepared by chemical method using Zn (II) acetate and potassium hydroxide as the starting materials and methanol as solvent. The material was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron diffraction analysis (EDS), UV-Visible spectroscopy, Dynamic light scatteringanalysis (DLS) and Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. The results indicated that the obtained ZnO material was in nano-dimension and possessed pure …

Comparative Studies on Production of Biodiesel from Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) & Noctiluca Scintillans(NS)
Abstract: The world realized that the main source of energy from crude oil, which leads to the environmental concern and disappeared in few years. That’s how new resolutions are under study looking for alternate fuel to replace the fossil fuels. The research studies have been made in field, but none of which are on a large scale production locally in Oman. Based on scenario, Biomass (algae) can be produced to make …

Kinetic and Mechanistic Study of Oxidation of Benzydamine Hydrochloride by Permanganate (VII) in Acidic Medium
Abstract: The kinetics and mechanism of Permanganate (Mn (VII)) oxidation of Benzydamine hydrochloride (B.HCl) in acidic medium has been studied at 26 ± 0.1°C. The reaction shows first order dependence in [Mn (VII)], less than unit order in [B.HCl] and fractional order dependence in [H2SO4]. Variation of ionic strength by the addition of KCl has no significant effect on the rate. The stoichiometry of the reaction is found to be 1:4 …

Study on Hazardous Explosives
Abstract: The Mining sector uses explosives to extract ore and discover orebodies, according to the Canadian Explosives Research Laboratory. Oil and gas companies use them to construct pipelines, the forest business uses them to construct roads, and the construction industry uses them to construct infrastructure. Explosives are required by the aerospace sector to power the rockets that launch satellites into orbit. Among other things, explosives are necessary for the rocket fuel …

A Conductive Polymer Based Electrode in Asymmetric Supercapacitor
Abstract: Most applications and devices in today's smart world rely on electricity to function. In this circumstance, energy storage and energy conservation are critical practices for delivering excellent service. In terms of energy efficiency, rotational stability, and charging and discharging time, supercapacitors exceed batteries. It can withstand a lot more power than standard capacitorsand batteries. In asymmetric designs, this paper looked at how to achieve the high voltage window and high …

A Detailed Lumped Model for Vinyl Acetate Emulsion Polymerization
Abstract: Abstract A mathematical model was developed to simulate emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate monomer in isothermal, batch and semi-batch reactors. The recipe components included monomer (vinyl acetate), initiator (potassium persulfate), surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) and water as the dispersion medium. The two important phenomena, particle nucleation and particle growth, were modeled in adequate detail. The mechanistic details included: particle formation via micellar nucleation; coupling of the radical concentration in the …
