Probiotics
Abstract: Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for health, especially digestive system. Usually bacteria are thought of as something that causes diseases. But our body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called "good" or "helpful" bacteria because they help keep our gut healthy. Thus, probiotics are live microorganisms that may be able to help prevent and treat some illnesses. Promoting a healthy digestive …

Transgenic Animals
Abstract: A transgenic animal is one that carries a foreign gene that has been deliberately inserted into its genome. The foreign gene is constructed using recombinant DNA methodology. In addition to the gene itself, the DNA usually includes other sequences to enable it to be incorporated into the DNA of the host as well as to be expressed correctly by the cells of the host.

Recent Trends and Advancements in Transgenesis and Transgenic Technology
Abstract: Transgenic technology is a novel procedure that was introduced in the year 1981. It involves the insertion as well as integration and expression of new/improved genes into the host organism’s genome. This technology has many benefits in animal biotechnology. This article is a brief review on this technology, the ethical issues concerning it as well as its applications in the field of animal biotechnology.

Eggshell as Calcium Supplement Tablet
Abstract: Hen eggs are very nutritious food items but their shells are discarded as wastes from different sources like hotels, houses etc. In this study these discarded eggshells were collected. They were processed and a powder was obtained in final stage. This eggshell finds applications in many fields due to its rich calcium content and here it was used as a calcium supplement for females. Calcium extracted from different eggshells was …

Cost-Effective Procedure of Agarose Gel Recycling
Abstract: Agarose gel electrophoresis is a commonly used technique in various areas of biotechnology. This pretentious but specific analytical procedure is used in research, biomedical, and forensic laboratories. Agarose gel recycling is a realistic approach for molecular genetic studies. Reuse of agarose gel for daily routine experiments to save money due to limited financial resources for research. This practice satisfies a need to control expenses. Recycled agarose can be used for …

Advancement of Poly-(ADP – Ribose) Polymerase (PARP) Inhibitors in Cancer Progression and Treatment
Abstract: DNA repair mechanisms are the most common and potential targets in cancer treatment. PARP enzymes play a crucial role in detection of DNA damage and its repair and also in apoptosis. Detailed knowledge of these mechanisms leads to the development of poly-(ADP-Ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors as vigorous anticancer drugs with specific action. PARP inhibitors can selectivity kill tumours with deficiencies in DNA repair proteins like BRCA1/2, exploiting synthetic lethality concept. …

Usage of Genetic Engineering Practices in Animal Breeding: A Review
Abstract: being used by scientists/researchers to transform the genetic material (DNA/RNA) of an organism, thereby, bringing the desired change in it. This can be achieved by using several techniques, such as, by transfection, using retroviral vectors, transposons, and knock-in and knock-out technology, etc. It has various applications in breeding of animals, which enables the production of genetically modified species that can be used to produce various novel proteins, which are useful …

Potential Probiotics – Pains and Gains: A Review
Abstract: Probiotics are living microorganisms that promote the health of the host by improving the microflora. Probiotic microorganism have become more and more widespread in the last 20 years as a results of the endlessly increasing scientific evidences that enlighten their helpful effects on human health. As a result, they need to be used as a food supplement. Recently, the contribution of probiotics to modulate immunologic, metabolic process, and gastro-intestinal (GI) …

Acute Diffuse Peritonitis in a Pregnant Buffalo
Abstract: A non descriptive breed of buffalo with 8 months of gestation was referred to the clinic with clinical manifestations like anorexia, fever, stiff gait and oedema at inter mandible region, brisket and ventral abdomen. Animal exhibited tachycardia, tachypnoea, pain while deep palpation at ventral abdomen and a positive response to ferroscope examination. Haemato-biochemical analysis revealed anaemia, leucopaenia with degenerative shift to left, neutrophilia and elevated protein levels. Peritoneal fluid analysis …
