Performance Analysis of Long Shunt Self Excited Induction Generators
Abstract: The Subject of this paper is to analyse the Self Excited Induction Generators operating in long Shunt configuration. A simulink model of long shunt self excited induction generator (SEIG) has been developed using Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) (R2010a) user friendly toolbox. The results are verified by conducting experiments on the same SEIG. Different results are taken for different loading conditions. The values of Shunt and Series capacitance is also changed for different …

NEURAL NETWORK APPROACH FOR PROCESSING SUBSTATION ALARMS
Abstract: This paper studies the method of processing of alarms in an electric substation using artificial neural networks (ANN) as a tool. Whenever there is a fault in the power system, or there is a significant change in the network, alarms are issued to the substation operators, with each alarm being associated with a message. This is the driving force for research and experiments regarding innovations of more sophisticated methods of …

Comparative Studies of Power Quality Issues in Offices and Residential Buildings
Abstract: This paper presents the results of measurements made in an office building and residential building, both located in the same site for a period of one week. It is estimated that more than 30% of the power currently being drawn from the utility companies is now consumed by sensitive non- linear load, and still increasing in both industrial and residential areas. Non- linear load is steadily increasing in residential areas …

Investigation on Five Phase Inverter
Abstract: In this paper, Sinusoidal Pulse width modulation (SINE-PWM) and Space Vector Pulse width modulation (SVPWM) techniques are implemented in the five phase inverter. Space vector modulation is realized using min-max method. Both SINE-PWM and SVPWM techniques are tested in simulation and hardware set-up. Results are obtained satisfactorily and it confirms the features of both PWM techniques. Keywords: Five phase inverter, SINE-PWM, SVPWM
