Case Studies On Synthesis Of PLLA Bioplastic Starting From Food And Agricultural Wastes
Abstract: Polylaevo Lactic Acid (PLLA) is an excellent biopolymer that is biodegradable and has characteristics exactly similar to polystyrene. However, at present, the market price of this biopolymer is significantly higher than polystyrene and other synthetic plastics. The major hindrances to the large scale manufacture of this polymer are the lack of availability of a cheap raw material and the overall economy of synthesis of lactic acid from the same. In …

CFD of Transition from Bubbly Flow to Slug Flow in Vertical Pipe
Abstract: The transitional regimes of two-phase flow are widely met in many industrial practices. The phenomena of the transition flows are very complex. How to measure and simulate the transition flows are really challenging to the engineers. In this paper, the new Lagrangian algebraic slip mixture model (LASMM) was employed to quantity the transitional regimes of two-phase flow in a vertical pipe. In the application of this model, the typical flow …

Pinch analysis of Cumene process using Aspen Energy Analyzer
Abstract: This article is divided into two parts. In the first part a process flow diagram for the production of cumene is designed with Aspen HYSYS. Cumene obtained is 98.78% pure and the designed plant is safe to environment with less emissions. In the second part heat exchanger networks (HEN) was developed for the process plant by performing pinch analysis using Aspen Energy Analyzer. Retrofit analysis was applied to find an …

Design and Pinch Analysis of Methyl Acetate Production Process using Aspen Plus and Aspen Energy Analyzer
Abstract: Abstract This study deals with the design and heat integration of Methyl Acetate production process. Initially, Methyl Acetate production process plant is designed using Aspen Plus. Methyl acetate obtained is 99.99% pure and the designed plant is safe to environment with less emissions. For the developed process plant, pinch analysis is applied using Aspen Energy Analyzer. Improved Heat exchanger networks (HEN) is obtained with retrofit analysis of the process plant. …

Studies on Mass and Momentum Transfer at the Outer Wall of a Circular Conduit with Entry Region Spiral Tape Wound on Rod as Turbulence Promoter in Homogeneous Flow
Abstract: In this study, an experimental investigation is carried out for augmentation of mass transfer coefficients in homogeneous flow by inserting spiral tape wound on rod in a circular conduit. Mass transfer coefficients are evaluated from the limiting current densities and the concentrations of the reacting ions. The variables studied are the geometric parameters of the promoter width, height, pitch of the promoter and the flow rate of the electrolyte, each …
