Identification of Axial Air-Foil Bearings and Radial Air-Foil Bearings
Abstract: Air-foil bearings (AFBs) are self-acting hydrodynamic bearings, a shaft is supported by a compliant, spring-loaded foil journal lining. Once the shaft is spinning fast enough, the working fluid (usually air) pushes the foil away from the shaft so that there is no contact. The shaft and foil are divided by air's high pressure which is produced by the rotation which pulls gas into the bearing via viscosity effects. AFBs provide …

Roller Burnishing Process on Surface Hardness
Abstract: Roller burnishing is the procedure which produces a fine surface finish by the planetary rotation of hardened roils over a bored or turned metal surface. Roller burnishing involves plastic deformation of the surface of the work piece to improve surface structure. The most important parameter describing surface integrity is surface roughness. A detailed experimental program was used in this study where specimens were subjected to various levels of feeding speed …

Stress Intensity Factor in Artificially Damaged Structures
Abstract: The presence of cracks in macrostructures creates heterogeneity which manifests itself by a change of the state of stress and strain in the structure. A crack in vibrating structures can lead to premature failure if it is not detected in time. Researchers have been working on the dynamics of cracked structures for decades to be able to monitor the structure and diagnose that fault at the earliest possible stage. In …

The Curvature Effect consideration in Euler beam theory
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to improve the results of Euler beam theory. Euler beam theory can be used to determine the deflection of beam. But in some cases cross section of beam is not flat-ended, and Euler beam theory only consider the vertical loading, so the effect of curvature is occurred due to normal loading. The method to determine the curvature effect has been developed in this paper, …

Review on the Mechanics of Lightweight 3-D Graphene Assembly
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to improve the results of Recent advances in three-dimensional (3D) graphene assembly, it has shown how we can make solid porous materials which is lighter than air. In its two-dimensional form, graphene is thought to be the strongest of all known materials. But researchers until now have had a tough time decoding that two-dimensional strength into beneficial three-dimensional materials. It is possible that these …
