INVESTIGATIONAL STUDIES ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES FOR FRPS COMPOSITES
Abstract: The fibre reinforced composite materials consists of fibres of significant stiffness and strength embedded in a matrix with distinct boundaries between them and these materials had better mechanical properties when compared to normal metals which are thought as better substitutes to metals and add strength and reduces weight of a given system. The strength of FRPSS varies basing on its constituents and composition of constituents. In marine field where high strength …

Mechanical properties of Al-Si17Cu3.5Mg0.8 alloy fabricated by stir casting with UV and new CRSS casting process with and without T6 condition
Abstract: Aluminum-Silicon metal matrix composites are the popular materials in the vast majority of the car and modern industries on account of their low weight, high mechanical properties, and incredible wear opposition properties. In the present study, Al-Si17Cu3.5Mg0.8 alloy is fabricated by two casting processes such as stir casting with ultrasonic vibrations (RSC) and merged-rheo-stir-squeeze (CRSS) casting with and without heat treated (T6) condition. Microstructural and material characterization was explored by …

Assessment on the Effecs of Sodium Salts of Tungstate and Nitrite as Green Inhibitor for the Corrosion of Cr–5Ni–53W Alloy in 0.5 M NaCl Solution
Abstract: Corrosion inhibition effect of sodium salts of tungstate and nitrite on the sputter-deposited ternary Cr–5Ni–53W alloy was investigated in 0.5 M NaCl solution open to air at 25±1 °C using corrosion test, inhibition mechanism and corrosion potential measurement. The use of sodium salts of both the tungstate and nitrite enhanced the corrosion resistance properties of the ternary alloy in 0.5 M NaCl solution, mostly due to tungstate and nitrite ions …

Optimization of Active Cutting Power Consumption by Taguchi Method for Rough Turning of Alloy Steel
Abstract: In this study, the active cutting power consumption (ACPC) is optimized as it is usually the major factor of the electricity bills in machining operations. The EN 353 alloy steel is used as workpiece material during rough turning while varying cutting parameters and nose_radius. The experiments were conducted in accordance with the Taguchi’s L-27 standard arrangement and the interactions between parameters were also considered with tungsten carbide inserts. The optimum …

Effect of Ge and Pb Impurities on the Optical Properties of Amorphous (Sb2Se3)90Sn10 Thin Films
Abstract: The as prepared samples of [(Sb2Se3)90Sn10]95 M5 [M = Ge, Pb] chalcogenide system were amorphous as evidenced by X-ray diffraction studies. The optical band gap has been estimated with the help of Taucs relation for the as-deposited [(Sb2Se3)90Sn10]95M5 thin films. It is observed that the optical band gap increase with increase in the Ge and Pb content, which may be due to decrease in the density of defect states. This …
