Rainwater Collection System in Urban Areas
Abstract: Rainwater harvesting involves the collection and storage of rainwater into the natural reservoirs or artificial reservoirs in order to prevent the surface water runoff. Rainwater harvesting is a process of collecting and storing rainwater for using it as a backup supply of freshwater to meet everyday domestic and agricultural requirements, especially when water becomes scarcely available. There are several methods by which we can collect rainwater flowing from our rooftops, …

Prediction of Shear Strength Parameters Using Multiple Regression Analysis
Abstract: Shear strength is a principal engineering property of soil. It controls the stability of a soil mass under structural loads and is used in design of foundation. In this study, a survey was carried out in and around the Bhauti region of Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh and accordingly nine sampling locations was identified. All the samples were collected from a depth of 50 cm and analyzed for different geotechnical properties …

Design Analysis of Offshore Petroleum Platforms
Abstract: Platform design is a difficult issue in deep offshores. Foundation of afloat structures is a platform to search afloat facilities at deep sea scaled. Offshore oil production is one of the most visible of these applications and represents a significant challenge to the design engineer. Offshore structures must function safely for design lifetimes of twenty-five years or more and are subject to very harsh marine environments. Some important design considerations …
