A Complete Evaluation of the Organic Composition of Sewage Sludge Taken from Some Pumping Stations in Benghazi-Libya
Abstract: Raw sewage sludge samples collected from sixteen wastewater-pumping stations at Benghazi city have undergone complete evaluation of organic composition parameters including pH, Total Volatile Solid (TVS), Total Nitrogen (TN), Total Phosphorus (TP), Total Organic Matter (TOM) and Total Organic Carbon (TOC). The monthly and spatial variations in sludge properties have been described. Keywords: Benghazi city, Raw sewage sludge, Organic Composition.

COMPLEXATION AND ANTIBACTERIAL STUDY OF 1,3,4-OXADIAZOLE DERIVATIVE
Abstract: New metal complexes of Zn(II),and Ni(II) have been synthesized by reacting metal solutions with the ligand 2,5-substituted 1,3,4-Oxadiazoles in alcoholic medium. Molecular formulae of the complexes were determined and are further characterized by IR spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility and molar conductance studies. Since two nitrogen atoms coordinate to the metal center, the ligand is termed as bidentate ligand.KEY WORDS: Complexes, Ligands, Transition metal complexes, Oxadiazoles.

Grindstone Chemistry: Facile Green Chemical Approach for the Synthesis of Pyran Scaffolds
Abstract: Chemical transformations through physical grinding of precursors using mortar and pestle are usually termed as ‘Grindstone Chemistry’. The main feature of this method such as does not require costly equipment, allows solvent and waste-free transformations under mild conditions, and normally involves short reaction time, high product yield and selectivity made this protocol attractive among unconventional synthetic approaches. On the other hand, Pyrans are important heterocyclic structures found applications in various …

Influence of Topical Application of Acetone Solution of Triterpenes on the Chitin Content in the Body Wall (Integument) of fifth Instar Larvae of Silkworm, Bombyx mori (L).
Abstract: Reduction in the chitin deposition in the insect body wall is one of the distinguishing features of juvenoid compound. Ten microliters ( 10 μL ) of different concentrations of acetone solution of standard solvent: Fernasol Methyl Ether (FME) and ten microliters ( 10 μL ) of different concentrations of acetone solution of each triterpene compounds (Squalene; Polypodatetraene; Malabaricane; Lanostane; Hopaneand and Oleanane) were utilized through the topical application to individual …

Synthesis and characterization of high saline water resistant sulphur composite from petrochemical waste
Abstract: Petrochemical industry produces variety of side products and waste materials like sulphur, spent catalysts, spent adsorbents, etc. These waste materials can be converted to the value-added products by forming their composites with unique properties. For example, sulphur due to its chemical properties like high resistivity to corrosive environment, hydrophobic nature, antifungal property, its composite can be prepared and used in construction industries as a substitute for cement composite material. To …

AN OVERVIEW ON ANTICANCER ACTIVITY OF SOME MEDICINAL PLANTS OF HIMALAYAN REGION
Abstract: The conventional treatments of cancer by chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, etc. are difficult and cause adverse side effects. Plants are the prominent source of unique phytochemicals, which provide a novel mechanism to delay the growth or eliminate the neoplastic cells without causing side effects to the normal cells. This review aims to provide an ethnobotanical, phytochemical, and toxicological overview of some of the Himalayan medicinal plants having anticancer properties. The review …
