Extractive Distillation study for the system Acetone - Chloroform – DMSO
Abstract: Acetone- chloroform is a maximum boiling azeotropic mixture which is frequently observed in the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals industries. Conventional distillation does not yield the desired separation into pure components that is Acetone and Chloroform. Present work, focuses on separation of mixture by Extractive Distillation (ED) using PRO/II simulation software. Solvent used in separation of the mixture is DMSO (Di Methyl Sulfoxide) and thermodynamic model UNIFAC is selected for the …

Passive Capillary Flow of Dyed Water in SU-8 based Glass Microfluidic Devices integrated with Polyimide Layer on the Bottom Wall
Abstract: In this work, total 4 individual SU-8 based glass microfluidic devices are fabricated by the maskless lithography and indirect bonding technique. The polyimide layer is integrated on the selected portion of glass bottom wall of each device. Each passive capillary flow of dyed water is recorded by a CMOS camera catching 25 frames per second. This work will be useful to fabricate the SU-8 based laboratory-on-a-chip systems for microfluidic applications. …

Classification of Microvalves ---- A Review
Abstract: Miniaturization of microvalves is required in many microfluidic applications towards the commercial standards. As examples, the applications of microvalves are flow regulation and on/off switching. Microvalves are primarily divided into active microvalves and passive microvalves according to their working principles. These microvalves may be involved with mechanical systems, non-mechanical systems and external systems. This educational short review is authored as the study material for proposed elective-course on Microfluidics (M.Tech, Theory) …

FEASIBILITY STUDIES ON A DISTILLATION CASCADE FOR PRODUCTION OF ULTRA-HIGH PURITY TRICHLOROSILANE
Abstract: Elemental silicon is the backbone of the electronics and the solar photovoltaics industry in the present times. This work examines the purification of a silicon precursor such that the total impurity content in it is limited to a few parts per million. Trichlorosilane (TCS) is one of the most important precursors in the production of electronics grade elemental silicon. This is because of the relative ease with which crude trichlorosilane, …

Rheological Study of Waste Polyethylene Terephthalate with Bitumen Mix in Pavement Construction
Abstract: Plastic bags which are composed of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is commonly used as for soft drink, water bottles and many other applications. However, disposal of this waste PET in large quantities constitutes an environmental problem, as it is considered as non-biodegradable materials. This study investigated rheological study of waste PET to be mixed with bitumen use as a raw material for pavement construction. The effect of temperature was varied from …
