Experimental Investigation on Tensile Properties of Al6061-Graphite Particulate Composites
Abstract: This paper presents the experimental work carried out on the tensile behavior of aluminium 6061 (Al 6061) graphite particulate composites. The required specimen are prepared using stir casting method with graphite proportions ranging from 3 to 12 % by weight. The mechanical behavior of Al 6061 graphite particulate composites produced using stir casting method, was investigated by conducting experiments on Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Tensile specimens were utilized for tensile …

Review on Natural Fiber Composites: Banana/Hemp Fiber and Its Hybrid Composites
Abstract: The centuries ago usage of composites materials plays important role in industrial revolution. In ancient days Egyptians used straw as reinforcement in clay bricks to build house. With the invented of glass fiber and resins, glass fiber reinforced composites found its application in many areas. Abundance nature and moderate specific strength than most of the organic fibers, low density and biodegradable nature make the natural fiber as attractive reinforcement in …

Sensing Capabilities of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composite Integrated With Electrical Inserts
Abstract: This paper describes the attempts made in developing a passive smart material by the integration of electrical inserts in the FRP components and studying the electrical & mechanical behavior under different loading conditions. FRPs are fabricated with copper inserts and are tested to study the resistive and capacitive behaviors of prepared specimens. FRP components are also tested for tensile, bending, compression and impact strengths to determine the effect of metal …

Microstructure Dependence of Electrical Properties in AgI- and Ag2S-Doped Glass Nanocomposites
Abstract: In this paper, we report the study of microstructure dependence of ion conduction for several AgI- and Ag2S-doped glasses and glass nanocomposites systems. The structure and electrical properties of these samples have been studied and the effects of formation of nanocrystalline phases on the electrical properties of these glasses are presented. The microstructure of these glasses was studied employing transmission electron microscope (TEM). The temperature dependence of dc conductivity shows …
