Potato Starch-Based Composites for Industrial Application
Abstract: Plastic has become an essential element in our daily life. Plastics derived from polyolefins such as polyethylene are currently used in plastic film for food wrapping, garbage bags, mulching, compost bags, and many more. These plastics are typically inactive and resistant to microbial attack and hence they remain in nature for a long time without any deformation and has a harmful effect on atmosphere. Biodegradable plastics can help solve this …

Thermal and structural properties of surface treated ragweed fiber reinforced biodegradable polylactic acid biocomposites
Abstract: Natural fiber-reinforced composites (NFRC) are becoming more popular as technological advance recognizes the need for eco-friendly materials. This work presents Giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida) as a new composite reinforcement material into polylactic acid (PLA) matrix to form novel natural fiber-reinforced composites. Different types of retting techniques are utilized, and hydrogen peroxide retting is proven to provide the most optimized properties. The fibers are taken through subsequent extraction and grinding processes. …

DFT studies of the structural, electronic and optical properties of armchair CaONT, Oxygen incorporated CaO2NT and CaO3NT and zigzag SWCaONT for Optoelectronics Applications
Abstract: In this research, the structural, electronic and optical properties of the nanotubes of CaO, CaO2 and CaO3 were studied using the DFT quantum computational approach. Although studies of electronic and optical properties were done for 2D CaO nano sheets with oxygen incorporation, there are no available data to show similar studies on the nanotubes forms of this metal oxide. This research therefore tried to explore more about the structural, electronic …

Advanced Techniques for Delamination Toughening in Carbon Fibre Reinforced Composites
Abstract: Carbon fibre reinforced composites are widely used in various industries due to their excellent strengthto-weight ratio and stiffness properties. However, one of the major issues in these composites is delamination, which occurs due to the weak interlaminar bonding between the layers of fibers and matrix. Delamination leads to a reduction in the load-carrying capacity and structural integrity of the composite. To address this issue, several advanced techniques for delamination toughening …
