An assessment of commercial production of radioisotopes in nuclear power reactors as cogeneration projects
Abstract: Nuclear cogeneration projects represent an important non-electric application of nuclear power. This study analyses the feasibility of using commercial nuclear power reactors for production of important radio-isotopes in significant quantities as a form of nuclear cogeneration activity. The importance of nuclear and radiation based techniques in a variety of fields is growing rapidly. Thus diversifying into this activity can open up new routes of revenue creation for existing power plants …

CORROSION RESISTANCE OF BINARY AND TERNARY ALLOY COATINGS FROM ACID SULPHATE BATH
Abstract: Electroplating of three binary (Zn-Ni, Zn-Co and Zn-Fe) and two ternary (Zn-Ni-Co and Zn-Co-Fe) alloy coatings were developed onto mild steel substrate using 2-((4-chlorophenyl) amino)-1-(6-methyl-1H-pyrazolo [3, 4 - b] quinolin-1-yl) ethanone (CME) as an additive. Hull cell technique was used to optimize the bath constituents and operating conditions. Corrosion rate of binary and ternary alloy coatings were determined using potentiodynamic polarization method. Corrosion rate of ternary Zn-Ni-Co alloy coating was …

Experimental Studies on the Surface-Driven Microfluidic Flow of Dyed Ethylene Glycol in Polymer Microfluidic Devices
Abstract: In this experimental work, three individual microfluidic devices are fabricated by polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) using maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding technique. Straight microchannel having uniform width along entire channel length is the chosen design of microchannels before fabrication. Dyed ethylene glycol is prepared and used as working liquid. Effect of channel aspect ratio on surface-driven capillary flow of dyed ethylene glycol is studied. CMOS camera is used to …

PREDICTIVE MODEL FOR CORROSION CONTROL IN CRUDE OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION FACILITIES
Abstract: Corrosion is a major problem in the global oil and gas industry, as crude oil and gas production operations are shut down on daily basis, because of facility failure, due to the deterioration and the loss of a facility and its critical properties due to chemical, electrochemical and other reactions of the exposed facility surface with the surrounding environment. Efforts have been made to eliminate corrosion in crude oil and …

Design and Analysis of Optical Parameters of Hybrid Solid Core PCF
Abstract: In this paper, a solid hybrid PCF with non-uniform size air holes is presented at the cladding area. The innermost cladding area is star shape of circular air holes, and the outer four layers are taken 2.8 µm for numerical analysis. Then the size of the outer four layers is taken to 2.5 µm, 2.2 µm, 2 µm and 1.7 µm for various parameter investigations. The proposed structure has a …
