Abstract

Investigation was conducted to examine the rate of diethyl-ether production from ethanol using the approach of vapour-phase dehydration. The following functional parameters were examined to determine the significance on the production of diethyl-ether from ethanol on the concept of vapour-phase dehydration. The functional parameters are space time, space velocity, heat generated per unit volume, reactor length, weight of catalyst and fractional conversion. The result obtained from the investigation demonstrates the significance of ethanol in the production of diethyl-ether using vapour-phase dehydration processes. Key words: Examination, conversion, ethanol, diethyl – ether, vapour-phase, space time
