Passive Capillary Flow of Dyed Ethylene Glycol in the SU-8 based Glass Microfluidic Devices Fabricated by Microfabrication Technologies

  1. Subhadeep Mukhopadhyay

Abstract

In this work, total 4 individual SU-8 based glass microfluidic devices are fabricated by the steps of maskless lithography and indirect bonding technique using author’s own hands-on completely. Dyed ethylene glycol (80% red dye, 20% ethylene glycol) is prepared as working liquid. The CMOS camera catching 25 frames per second with a corresponding time-scale resolution of 0.04 second is used to record the surface-driven capillary flow of dyed ethylene glycol corresponding to each fabricated device. A leakage-free surface-driven capillary flow is recorded due to the proper indirect bonding technique. In future, this experimental work will be helpful to fabricate the SU-8 based microfluidic lab-on-a-chip systems for bioengineering applications.
