Abstract

Pervious concrete possesses high permeability enabling environmental applications like stormwater recharging. However, lower strength limits widespread infrastructure adoption necessitating enhancements. This study focuses on optimizing aggregate proportions for improving compressive and flexural strength. Mixes were developed with cement variations from 200-500 kg/m3 with fine to coarse aggregates ratios systematically altered. Strengths were measured as per ASTM C39 and ASTM C78. Results showed reduced water-cement ratio and balanced aggregate blends improved strength. An optimum eco-friendly 215 kg/m3 cement blend with 55% fine aggregate satisfied minimum pavement strength requirements. This demonstrates potential for strength enhancements through aggregate gradation optimization to expand pervious concrete adoption for sustainability.
