Procurement and Deployment of Equipment for Contracts in Civil Engineering Construction

Abstract

Many contracts have suffered a lot of delays and have faced challenges due to procurement-related matters and inadequate manpower to handle equipment for optimal performance. This study was aimed at the procurement of equipment and utilization of machines in civil engineering contracts. Methodology is basically site visitation, literature review and discussion with engineers, experts and workers on site. Parameters are liable for the procurement of materials and utilizing their lead down to the performance of project managers on any construction project. The project manager must be capable of overseeing time, money, quality, health, and safety, as well as addressing the needs of the owners and stakeholders. The ability to procure types of equipment and find methods to utilize them under civil engineering contracts is a skill one needs to acquire. Findings of this study demonstrate that efficient project management involvement makes sure that project goals are met during both the planning and execution phases. It also shows that choosing the right kind, quantity, and size of construction equipment has an impact on how much time and effort is needed, as well as how productive a project is on the job site. Leveraging future technologies will enable the development of materials, the handling of machinery, and the procurement of equipment. It is recommended that utilization of the machines is carried out to the fullest to test out the equipment’s capabilities and to improve engineering works. It is therefore important for engineers to be familiar with the characteristics of civil engineering contracts and also be proficient in and capable of procuring equipment and utilizing the machines.Keywords: Management, equipment, procurement, utilization, construction project
