As the world moves towards development and transformation, the need for high rise buildings becomes prominent to overcome lack of horizontal land expansion. High rise buildings are often susceptible to lateral forces such as earthquakes and winds as compared to low rise buildings. This accounts for structural engineers to carry out various seismic analysis and implement lateral force resisting systems such as shear walls, braces and moment resisting frames in order to provide adequate stiffness and strength to the structures. This paper aims to study the usage of shear walls at different locations in a G+15 multi storied RC framed commercial building and to study and compare the response of the structure under earthquake and wind loading by response spectrum analysis. The G+15 multi storied regular building is analyzed for parameters such as maximum allowable displacement, base shear, storey shear and time period. The modeling and analysis of the whole structure is done using the software named STAAD. Pro V8i SS6 by Bentley systems. In this project the analysis of the structure with and without shear walls is carried out in the seismic Zones III, IV, V of India and it is concluded that the model with Shear Walls at corners is more stiff and safe in all zones as compared to the model without shear walls and the model with shear walls at edges.
