From Fiction to Reality: Feasibility Study of Arcologies like Peach Trees in ContemporaryUrban Contexts
Abstract: The concept of arcologies—self-contained vertical cities that integrate housing, workspaces, and amenities within a singular megastructure—has emerged as a potential solution for urban planners and architects, echoing both the utopian ambitions and the critiques of high-density urbanism. Drawing from both speculative fiction and real-world high-density developments such as the Kowloon Walled City and Marina Bay Sands, this study examines arcologies through the multidisciplinary lenses of architecture, urban governance, environmental sustainability, …

Perception of Daylight in Residential Spaces: Evaluating Mood, Behaviour, and Lighting Preferences
Abstract: Daylighting significantly influences occupant mood, spatial behaviour, and indoor comfort, yet its role in residential settings remains underexplored compared to commercial and office environments. This study examines how daylight perception and user-controlled illuminance adjustments shape occupant preferences, spatial use, and behavioural responses in various residential spaces. Using virtual simulation techniques, 60 participants (30 male, 30 female) experienced different daylighting conditions across five rooms – living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, …

The Efficacy of Hybrid Annuity Model: Sanitation Infrastructure
Abstract: The Hybrid Annuity Model has garnered significant acclaim as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework for highway infrastructure development since its inception in 2016, in response to a waning enthusiasm for PPP initiatives aimed at revitalizing the sector. This model is postulated to amalgamate the advantages of both public and private sectors, as it alleviates the financial encumbrance on concessionaires by permitting governmental investment of 40% of the requisite capital during …
