Synthesis of Bromobutyl Rubber: Effect of Reaction Temperature and Time on Bromobutyl Rubber MicrostructureBy Saurabh Tiwari, Virendrakumar Gupta
Abstract: Butyl rubber is prepared by cationic polymerization process either by solution or slurry phase by randomly copolymerizing isobutylene with small amount of isoprene (1-3 mol %). It has good air impermeability and oxidative stability and thus finds extensive use in inner tube applications. The presence of unsaturation in the form of isoprene units in butyl rubber provides a means of enhancing useful properties of this important commodity elastomer by incorporation …

Recent Progress of Post-reactor and Reactor-made Polypropylene-based Thermoplastic ElastomersBy Virendrakumar Gupta, Sanket Shah, Harshad R. Patil
Abstract: The global market for thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is growing rapidly owing to the rising demand from the packaging, automotive, healthcare, construction, electrical, electronics and other sectors. Significant progress has been made in the last few decades in the development of different TPE. Polypropylene being low-cost, corrosion resistance, better mechanical properties and readilyavailable, has attracted several researchers to develop polypropylene based thermoplastic elastomers (PP-TPE). This review focuses on recent advancements in …

Thermal, Mechanical, Morphological and Rheological Behavior of HDPE and Algae Based Polysaccharide BlendBy Saurabh K. Tiwari, Vinod Nagle, Mahadev Gaikwad, Santanu Dasgupta, Virendrakumar Gupta
Abstract: The use of renewable resource based materials as filler for thermoplastic polymers showed wide scope in agriculture, textile and commodity applications due to low cost and high mechanical properties. In this work marine red algae based polysaccharide was used as a filler material for high density polyethylene (HDPE). The polysaccharide extracted from marine based red algae is a byproduct of algae to oil extraction process. The blends were prepared using …

Effect of Benzyl Triphenyl Phosphonium Chloride on Crystallization, Rheological Behaviour and Electrical Properties of Polypropylene and Polypropylene Grafted Maleic AnhydrideBy Saurabh Tiwari, Virendrakumar Gupta
Abstract: The effect of benzyl triphenyl phosphonium chloride (BTPC) on polypropylene (PP) and polypropylene grafted maleic anhydride (PP-g-MA) in the proportions of 0-5% by weight studied in detail. PP/BTPC and PP/PP-g-MA/BTPC composites were produced by melt processing technique using twin screw microcompounder. Change in the force inside screw barrel during melt mixing of PP based composites were recorded. The prepared composites were analysed using rheometer, differential scanning calorimetry and hot stage …

3D printing of polymers by fused deposition modeling (FDM): filament ink to composite materialsBy Denial Mahata, Virendrakumar Gupta
Abstract: 3D printing technology has gained significant attention for its rapid manufacturing of on-demand customized objects from digital computer-aided design (CAD) model without need molds or machining. Polymers are the most utilize a class of commercial materials in additive manufacturing (AM) because of excellent physico-mechanical properties with desired objects. Fused deposition modeling is the filament based printing process which most widely popular for commercial thermoplastics polymer than other manufacturing techniques because …
