Numerical Analysis of Flow Characterization in a Continuous CrystallizerBy Anjana Thimmaiah, Lister Falleiro, Abhishek Naval, Akshat Ambekar, B. Ashraf Ali
Abstract: In this work, hydrodynamics in a draft tube continuous crystallizer is analyzed computationally through Ansys CFD to crystallization phenomena. Hindrance to fluid mixing and particle suspension due to vortexing can be overcome by providing baffles. A draft tube ensures that it directs the flow in vertical direction ensuring good axial blending. Here CFD simulations are performed using multiple reference frame (MRF) with sliding mesh approach in transient condition for flow …

Electrolytic Degradation of Uric Acid Using Nickel Electrodes in an Unpartitioned and Partitioned Batch CellBy B. Ashraf Ali, Raghuram Chetty, S. Pushpavanam
Abstract: Electrolytic degradation of an aqueous solution of uric acid (UA) was performed in an unpartitioned and partitioned electrolytic tank using nickel electrodes. The concentration of uric acid was measured using a UV–Visible spectrophotometer, and the effect of operating parameters such as voltage, concentration of uric acid and the supporting electrolyte were investigated. It is found that the concentration of uric acid decreases with time in both the unpartitioned and partitioned …
